El Palmar Beach

Activities

We work with local experts to ensure our guests get the most out of our region – whether that’s surfing lessons at one of the outstanding local beaches, kitesurfing, horse riding, cycling or hiking through the surrounding countryside. If you prefer to keep things chilled, we can arrange private morning yoga or massages in our treatment cabin.

Kitesurfing

The Costa de la Luz is an incredibly popular destination for kitesurfing thanks to its consistent winds and beautiful beaches. Tarifa, just 40 minutes away, is considered one of the best kitesurfing spots in Europe and attracts enthusiasts from all over the world.  Closer still is Canos de Meca (25 mins) which is generally quieter and also great for private lessons. We can organise group lessons or private one-on-one tuition with some of the most knowledgeable and trusted instructors in the area.

Explore the area

We work with expert tour guide, Carlos from Explore La Terra, to offer a range of fantastic tailor-made local expeditions designed to showcase the best of our region – and beyond. From a slow walking tour of Vejer, where you’ll learn the stories of the town’s gorgeous cobbled streets and sample traditional tapas and locally produced sherry, to a hiking expedition in El Estrecho natural park, where views reach as far as Africa, these special experiences can be as gentle or active as you choose.

Horse riding: we can recommend some wonderful horse back excursions. One highlight is a beach ride at Cape Trafalgar.

Whale watching in the straits of Gibraltar: a must-see for guests visiting in August and September to see the famous Orcas.

Golf

The Montenmedio golf course (6.260 meters, 18 holes and par 72) is different from all other Spanish courses. Not a single building affects its fairways and greens. It is surrounded by forests of wild olive, cork oak and pine trees and has impressive views of the Atlantic and to Vejer de la Frontera, just a 5 minute drive away.

Other courses in the area include Fairplay Benalup, Novo Sancti Petro and many others (Montecastillo, Villanueva, El Puerto, Sherry Golf) are within easy range for a weeks worth of great sport.
